Hello! I have decided to switch up my favorites list from my “Seven Things” roundup to the REPORT (Reading, Eating, Playing, Obsessing, Recommending, and Treating) format. I don’t have a deep reason behind it, save for structure and ease.
Anyway, enjoy this first installment! I might do this biweekly.
Reading
I’m back on my habit of reading books on neurodiversity and mental health! I’m currently in the process of seeking an autism diagnosis, so having books that make sense of it has been a helpful crutch. I also have a few other things on the reading pile.
Your Brain’s Not Broken by Tamara Rosier, PhD
Divergent Mind by Jenara Nerenberg
Designers Don’t Read by Austin Howe
Other titles on my reading/to read pile: I Want To Die, But I Still Want To Eat Tteokbokki by Baek Se-hee and Die Hot With a Vengeance by Sable Yong
Note: mini-reviews to come in once I’m done going through them!
Eating
A bunch of neurodivergent-friendly meals my dad and I made, as well as stuff I ordered outside.
My dad made the most delicious menudo for lunch today, which had the right mix of protein and veggies.
As for takeout food, I recently enjoyed Pizza Telefono’s truffle cream pasta.
Playing
Puzzle games, mostly. I have a 21-day win streak for Zip, which is a game I play on LinkedIn (of all places!). I also restarted my New York Times subscription, which means that I can play their games online during my spare time.
As for the music that I’ve been playing lately, I’m vacillating between K-pop, instrumental music, and Haim’s new album. Here are some songs and playlists that I’ve been listening to:
What It Sounds Like - KPop Demon Hunters | The English version is good, but I prefer the Tagalog dubbed version of this, just like how I enjoyed the Tagalog version of Soda Pop. The Tagalog versions of these songs are not cringeworthy by any means, they just hit deeper.
Gone - Haim | Probably Haim’s most powerful song yet? This song reminded me of My Chemical Romance’s “Famous Last Words.”
This specific live playlist from the Cafe BGM channel on YouTube! It’s so calming.
Thunder - Seventeen | This is dopamine in song form. An instant addition to any playlist.
Obsessing over
Berry’s summer cut!!! He looks cute again. Anyway, my other obsessions right now are:
My black sneakers from Muji
Chaia Cafe’s matcha
Twice’s latest comeback
Muji’s salt bread
The Bear
Will Poulter on TikTok
Green Bones
The PBB memes
Recommending
Twice’s new song, “This Is For” as a fun female empowerment/girl’s girl anthem
Sunnies Face’s Juicetints in Nuance and Mulberry — I personally own these, and these shades are really good.
Video essays and analyses from The Final Leg Track & Field — As a track and field fan, Anderson Emerole’s work has greatly influenced how I consume and process track and field! It’s nuanced and well-researched, which I greatly appreciate.
Treating
I’m treating myself to:
More nap times
A good haircare routine
More therapy + counseling
Notebooks and pens for journaling
Meanwhile, I recently treated myself to:
A few beauty products
McDo’s Twister Fries
I hope you enjoyed the first installment of R.E.P.O.R.T! Let me know your thoughts.
Until the next brain dump,
Lea
