Welcome to the latest installment of Seven Things! This time around, it’s a recap of the things that I consumed, enjoyed, and loved for the month of August.
Blabber aside, check out this roundup for Seven Things!
A Mano’s Spaghetti Carbonara and Quattro Formaggi pizza
For my birthday this year, my family and I decided to dine at A Mano, a restaurant specializing in fresh, handmade dishes that come from various places in Italy. It also happens to be owned by the family behind Cibo (which is one of the more aspirational restaurants here in Manila). Recently, it has gotten hype for their pizzas and their gelato concoctions.
I’m no food critic, but I enjoyed the food that we ordered. We ordered the Spaghetti Carbonara and Garganelli Bianco as our pasta dishes for that day. The latter is made with truffle butter, prosciutto, peas, and cream, which is an elevated version of the truffle cream pasta that I’m used to preparing during lazy days. For pizzas, we got the Quattro Formaggi one, which is a white pizza. We also got Mozzarelline Fritte, which are fried mozzarella balls as our appetizer. I got a burrata gelato with crushed cookies and Nutella for dessert, and a latte as a side drink.
Out of the food that we ordered, I enjoyed the Spaghetti Carbonara and the Quattro Formaggi pizza the most. The Garganelli Bianco was also good, but it left me hanging because of its serving size. I wish I could rank A Mano as my ultimate bias in the field of upscale or aspirational restaurants, but I honestly think that there are restaurants out there that have the same price point, but give double the servings (especially as a matakaw girl).
Behind Your Touch
After enjoying The Glory, I finally found another Korean drama that fills up my weekends. Without giving any major spoilers, this drama has a similar premise to He is Psychometric, but with more humorous and light-hearted moments.
How I feel about watching the show
Apart from the laughs, I love the wardrobe styling for Han Ji-min (the actress playing the female lead) in this drama. It’s the perfect mix of casual, cute, and chic, with sweaters, Peter Pan-collared blouses, and straight-cut pants as staples in her character’s wardrobe. The animal cameos are so cute too.
Drag Race Philippines Season 2
Ever since Drag Race launched its Philippine franchise, my interest towards the Philippine drag scene (and the overall drag scene) has increased exponentially. The second season of Drag Race Philippines is a bit of a slow burn for me, but I still enjoyed it nonetheless. My favorites from this season are Arizona Brandy, M1ss Jade So, Hana Beshie, Captivating Katkat, Tiny Deluxe, and Bernie.
Scentsmith’s Ambrette Sea Salt hand sanitizer
I love Scentsmith’s Ambrette Sea Salt perfume. It’s reasonably priced and it smells like expensive bread made from a seaside town. So, when I saw that Scentsmith released companion products from this fragrance line, I knew that I had to get the hand sanitizer right away. After all, perfumed hand sanitizers can give you a similar effect of the original perfume that you’re gunning for at a more affordable price.
This hand sanitizer exceeded my expectations. It smelled just like the original perfume, and it felt nice on my skin. At 198 Php, it’s an affordable and travel-friendly way to carry this scent everywhere you go while keeping germs at bay.
Pepper PH’s Cheater’s Sisig recipe
I’m still liking this as one of my go-to recipes for depression / executive dysfunction-friendly meals. It takes time, but it’s so good. I tried subbing the ground beef with longganisang Calumpit and burger patties and they taste AMAZING.
Longganisang Calumpit
When I was a kid, I used to be a bit of a longganisa anti. As it turns out, I didn’t like the sweet kind of longganisa. Out of all the longganisa varieties available here in the Philippines, I like the garlicky, tangy taste of longganisang Calumpit the most. It also smells delightful.
The NCT Home exhibit
One of the fun things that I did during my birthday weekend this year was visiting the NCT Home exhibition. I thought I was too cool for these kinds of things, but I guess it’s fun and somewhat nostalgic to see how the Neos chill and have fun, based on the members’ hobbies and passions. Not to mention, the exhibition was comfortable and sensory-friendly, since there were areas where you could chill, play games, or take pictures of the different spots within the exhibit. As for me, I spent the rest of the exhibit walking and chilling at some spots.
That’s it for the latest roundup of Seven Things! I hope you enjoyed this short entry.
Until the next brain dump,
