How would I describe my journey as a writer? I would say that it’s been a wild ride with a lot of stops. But I want to take my writing to another level.
Right now, I am a working writer who also does content strategy and ideation. I’m saying that I dabble in those two things, because I still can’t get the work right. I still can’t think as fast and as systematic as possible, because I’m neurodivergent and my thinking process is vastly different from others. Skill-wise, I still have much to learn, and part of that process is opening my world to writing styles and strategies that are unfamiliar to me. Up until this day, I still don’t have a clear grasp of what good writing is to me, let alone identify my voice as a writer.
My writing can be characterized by the following: “lifeless,” “dry,” yet “possesses a strong grasp of words.” More often than not, I learned how to write by doing lots of reading and shadowing my favorite writers online. I also feel that I’m a better writer when there are “guides” or prompts presented to me, because I have silenced my own voice and vision due to past criticisms.
Well, today’s the day where I’m going to get to know myself better and figure out my writing style. I know that I’m capable, but I still have a long way to go.
