After two weeks of non-stop rain, the sun is finally out. With that said, there’s an innate call to show up in less layers, to bare some skin, and to show up in clothes with looser, breezier silhouettes.
As someone with body image issues growing up, it’s a challenge to wear skin-baring clothes outside of the house. It always had to be work-appropriate, with a jacket or a sweater on top. I also needed to hide my flabby arms and my unexfoliated, unshaven armpits, because they were sources of nitpicking from peers.
The pandemic has changed the way I approach fashion. Now free from the confines of stuffy office fashion and judgmental coworkers, I have embraced wearing sleeveless dresses, oversized silhouettes, and tank tops as part of my day-to-day wardrobe. It’s also a way for me to honor my ever-changing body.
Given these changes in my personal style, here are a few outfits that I would wear on hot days:
This photo was taken in 2021 during the Face Shield era. I will still wear this dress though, since it makes me feel sexy, breezy, and comfortable. It’s not in the daster territory, but still beautiful and versatile. I also love the booger green color.

If there was one brand that opened up my love for tank tops and Hot Girl Dressing, it was Entireworld (RIP). I remember Rachel Nguyen did a sponsored video on the brand, where she wore a bunch of elevated basics. I picked up a set of tank tops 2 years ago, and they’ve been regular pieces in my closet ever since. They’re a bunch of overpriced tank tops, but they are versatile, comfortable, soft, and light to wear. In this photo, I paired a black Entireworld tank top with a pair of lilac paperbag pants from SM Woman and accessorized it with my favorite bag for schlepping things.
Lastly, here’s a planned outfit for a hot day: a maxi dress, a pair of closed-toe shoes, and a crossbody bag. It’s similar to the first one, but I’m on the hunt for stretchy, loose dresses that veer towards daster territory. You know, the ones that reach your ankle? I want a dress like that.
Here’s to more Hot Girl Dressing,
