Attempts at Styling #1: Recess' Comfort Zone Pullover
Disclaimer: Fashion is a weird zone for me to navigate
Found this prompt from Laurel Pantin’s Substack, and this is my first post that’s more or less completely fashion-related.
Anyway, I am a pullover-slash-sweater-slash-long sleeved shirt girl. I have acquired an embarrassing amount of them over the years across various sources (Shopee, Uniqlo, my dad’s closet, thrift stores, you name it). I love a comfortable long-sleeved top that’s appropriate for Philippine weather, yet also something that’s modular and appropriate for the workplace.
As I’ve shared previously, Recess is one of my favorite activewear brands. They make cute and comfortable sports bras, and their branding and marketing initiatives are something worth aspiring for: light, smart, hearty, and witty. Not to mention, some of my go-to workouts came from their Instagram page.
Enter: Recess’ Comfort Zone pullover.
This pullover retails for around Php 2,500 and I got it in the shade Baby, which is a warm, pale blue that doesn’t feel sickening. It’s made from cotton terry, which makes it light and suitable for tropical weather. As for its cut, it’s short and boxy enough that it’s not overwhelming for my body shape. It comes in a half-zip format too, which is reminiscent of the preppy polo sweaters that I’ve admired on K-pop stars like Jinyoung or Wonwoo.
For this photo, I paired this pullover with a pair of capri flares that resembled jazz pants, my Nike Flyknits that I purchased from a Carousell seller, and my American Apparel crossbody canvas bag that I also got from another Carousell seller.
In terms of mileage and versatility, I can see myself styling this with jeans and flats, a pair of “wear-anything pants” and sneakers, or even skirts and dresses. I can also pair it with my workout clothes too, especially when I’m going for walks around my neighborhood. It’s great to have a piece that’s vibrant, yet versatile enough to pair with various pieces in my closet. I’m happy with this purchase from Recess, and I can’t wait to wear it out more.
